I had a wonderful birthday! It started last Saturday with my oldest daughter and her family coming down to visit and today Paul and I went to have lunch at the MFA!
click on picture! That's us taking a picture! Our reflection! ha!
I love this picture of us. Paul looked so handsome, especially since he hates to get dressed up and he does NOT like going to museums and like places but he came down all dressed up and we ate at one of the resturants and he pushed me around in a wheelchair. That allowed me to see much more than if I had used my cane. ~sigh~<3 We only saw part of the first floor but since we bought a membership I can go back for more! love love! I told Paul I had to get a picture of him next to a piece to prove he was there! haha~ No, seriously, he really had a great time and getting out did a lot of good for us. I always find the art museum inspiring.
I haven't blooged in so long, spending too much time on FB. Lately I've been trying to do some art and have been dry as a bone. Hopefully soon I'll get my muse back!
If anyone is out there...xoxo..and thanks for visiting..really!
Whew...Umoungst (is that a word?) my many projects including the remodeling of my hall/personal museum! I finally have some items up on Etsy with more to add.
My first one sold (thank you Deborah!) but I have more styles and more to come. Here are a couple:
Collaged earrings...made using vintage postage stamps and approx 16 layers of paper and gloss,
My Etsy is JMKoriginals and my name there is jmkmini JMKoriginals
More earring sets, a necklace and some art pieces yet to go up! I've been busy for months! My hands have been geting progressivly worse but I'm just going to keep doing what I can until I can't! I know God hasn't abandoned me and he will give me what I need at the time. Thank you for visiting here. I know I don't post often. I tried to promice I would do more but it's not always possible, so I appreciate any of you that stop in. If you would I would love to hear from you, comments are always welcome.
p.s. I have pictures of my brand new hall to gp up too! It took almost 1 year to the date. plasterers, glaziers, electrician and 2 seperate carpenters to finish it!
Her name is Hope and she is a survivor. Her lover didn’t but their love survives inside her. The sadness and tear is the remembrance of that love.
On the first anniversary of the attack on 9-11-01 I was looking through the newspapers and magazines I had saved and found what I thought at first was a black and white photo of people walking down the street coming from ground zero. I was wrong, it was actually a color photo but the people were all covered in ash. They were all shades of gray, what an effect it had on me. It brought back all those feelings I felt that day. That’s when I decided to make this art doll.
Hope represents the spirit of survival and moving on with life. In her hand is a copy of a Sept 12th 2001 newspaper. On one side of her head is a large hole with cob webs of memories. Her stiffened dress represents her strength that carried her through, and the tear is because it still hurts. Her love was lost as the buildings
crumbled but she is moving on with life with a renewed strength and hope.
The Falling Man
This is the story that most of the media didn't want to talk about. I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch and listen to the story but I'm glad I did. The story needed to be told. If you want to hear it I want to warn you because it is upsetting.
I needed surgery to remove a massive infection that I didn't know had been festering. I was petrified. Mr doctor has never hurt me but I knew it what he had to do since my daughter is adental assistant and I had seen pictures in her study books. Strangely enough I came across this painting and saved it to find the artist. When they were operating there wasn't any music and all I heard was the scraping! OMG..I think he went all the way to the edge of my sinuses! Even though he gave me a gazillion shots, I felt it. Not quite the pain but the scraping and digging and stinging through my whole face....and I could NOT get this image out of my head! I was praying like crazy that he did it fast and right after he said..almost done. It was normally a 2 hr. operation but he was able to get it done in 1 1/2 hrs. He is a wonderful endodontist and so very gentle and kind but it was the extent of infection and in the bone. I was traumatized.
Lesson...images bad enough or shocking imprint in your memory and can come out at any time! Eeeeooow! Today..the next day I have a fat face with my upper lip sticking out. I know time and the meds will heal it.
Thank you for reading my experience, I hope my story didn't upset you. I just needed to get it out.
Jesus said "With man this is impossible but with God, all things are possible!" With that..Blue takes on a happier note!
How can you be blue when you can look at so many blue pretties? I have to admit that blue is my favorite color and indigo and cobalt are my favorite shades. (Pink is my second favorite!)
My last one..I don't want anyone to get Blue Overload! (is that possible?) Thank you so much for stopping by. xoxo
I just finished a pair of Indigo earrings. The round bead is lapis and the bottom bead is Labradorite. They are blue and I put words in my earrings as these are my paper earrings. They are about 16 layers all together and end up being about 1/16" thick with several layers of varnish, makes them very hard. Click on the pictures for a closer look.
I couldn't believe it when I saw the thermometer (in the shade) register 106 and with the heat index 118!!! Yuck! Well, seeing as Pink Saturday is coming tomorrow I'll treat you to some cooling photos! HAPPY PINK SATURDAY! If you don't know what Pink Saturday is, it's a fun blog hop of Pinkness started by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound
These pictures were taken this past winter, but I thought a nice pink tone would make them ok for our Pink Saturday.
Are you cool yet?
Ok..enough of the cooling fake pink pictures.
This is my latest coolest find at the local flea market!
And it works!! I have to have an electrician look at the wire because it has a wear hole on the cord but it should be fixable. I love it!
I'm not the only one who loves it...It seems Sam does too but it is a little too big for her!
Sam is as hot as the rest of us. Being so
hot outside her joints get loose so she desided to cool off in the bird bath! The birds weren't too happy! We've changed the bird bath water 4 times because the birds not only drink the water but they flap around bathing and what's left has been evaporating!
If you enjoyed your visit you should go to Beverly's How Sweet the Sound And you can visit any or all of the blogs involved! It is a wonderful way to pass the time!
Thank you for coming by my blog. I would love to hear if you enjoyed your visit! : )
Celebrate the Red, White & Blue! I'm a little late due to parties but it's good to celebrate our great country any time!
My favorite colors for my kitchen have always been Red, White and Blue! I remember in my other house I suggested a red kitchen and some people said that was "a stupid color for a kitchen", needless to say I did it anyway, I painted all the walls red with white trim, and white cupboards which I filled with blue and white fancy teacups and my very special blue glass (cobalt) most of them are packed away until I find room for them. (hence the display cabinet being built!) ....someday it will be finished.. *sigh*
This is a gorgeous table runner that my friend Noreen Strautin- quilter! If you click on it you'll see the details in her work. She made is specially for me with only my color requests.
This is a few of my pieces (photo taken this past winter).
The cabinet close to finish! Almost 8 months! Yikes!
Here is some more blue... Beautiful pansies in my garden.
One last picture of one of a blue grackle of the grab and eat crew! Thank upi fpr stopping by. If you leave a comment I can come by and visit you!
The first 25 plants started to grow pretty good so I took my best 2 plants and put them outside since we finally got some sun, and kept a bunch inside with a couple of grow lights....Then... it looked like slugs or something was eating my plants so I sprayed them with a homemade solution, put crushed eggshell around then and a ring of copper pennies. It looks like the eating stopped : ) The inside plants are growing and I've been moving them around in windows following the sun or on rainy days putting under the lights.Well, that was last weekend this is today! What a way to start the day! $&(@#^%!!
I was moving the plants this morning (waaay to early tojuggle 4 plants wearing braces!) Of course, I dropped two and they broke (bent) Arrrgh! I ran with them and dug a hole and shoved the whole plant down in the dirt all the way up to the broken area. One seemed to take (so far) but my best plant looks awful. : ( Even though I taped it together at one of the bends. Boy do they have a lot of roots, I'll have to transplant them again. How are you with plants? I have some window space but the cats take that up..or eat the plants!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and please leave a comment if you found my blog interesting. : )
Ok..I'm a little slow, but I was finishing up some new earrings (Pink of course!) so I finally picked the winner of last week's Pink Saturday's birthday bash! he winning number is 6! That be Gigi! I felt bad because Lady Jane added two comments and I had to count it as one so it changed count, I just wanted to explain in case someone thought I counted wrong. But needless to say I have a pink pair of earrings for Gigi and I'll contact her for her advice. I'll put up a picture of them after.

First I went shopping for fabric (in my collection)..pink of course. Quite a few bloggers Then I had to find some pink ribbons for a very special project. A friend asked me to make some special aprons for alzheimer patients. She said that sometimes just a touch reminds them of a memory. So she was thinking I could add some textures.
Next I had to look for some trims like ribbons and pompoms, furry fabric..etc..
Mmmmm..so many ribbons..Didn't find the pom-poms but I'll find them! Off I go to find them and maybe some unique buttons! Opps..almost forgot...not to worry about buttons..when my dear MIL passed away she had TONS of buttons in all kinds of bottles and candy boxes! So many old ones and lots of colors! It is just like candy!
I did find the pom-poms at Jo-Ann's and a zipper and some lace. My MIL had this really neat old pink corduroy bathrobe that was sun damaged but still lots of fabric I could use so I used a little of that, some chenille fabric and soft baby blanket material that I lined and put on the pocket flaps.
That's me resting my left foot that was badly sprained and a broken right toe from walking off a stair when I thought I was on the landing! You can see the soft fabric on the flaps and on the top is the cordroy with some vintage lace around it.
The zipper zips but there isn't anything behind it. I figured it could be just something to pull up and down..Oh, I should hang a pretty bead on it! Well anyway here it is all finished! I'm working on others but not pink so I will show those another day.

Hi! Welcome to Pink Saturday! My name is Judy and I'm here to serve you. : )
Beverly from How Sweet the Sound started Pink Saturdays. Please visit her blog. This is my first one. (Pink Saturday that is) I hope you like it.
So first..a cozy cup of hot tea, in of course a pink tea cup! Enjoy my pink roses from this summer. The small ones smell like apple and the larger ones are from a bush over 100 years old.
The china was my grandmother Welch. And who wouldn't like a bit of dessert?
A yummy 3 layer pound cake with whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries! (Recipe is Stop & Shop!)
But it sure is good!

So many people don't understand Lupus and it's devastating effects, myself and the doctors. I am slowly writing about some of my experiences with it. For me one of the most devastating effects has been the deterioration of my hands. It started out as a stiffness then I noticed some of my fingers started snapping and then they were slanting into each other. I tried using some silver ring splints and they helped for awhile.
The gave me a brace for my right hand and that helped me be able to go on working and doing my art, then the left hand got worse and now the second brace. As you can see in the second picture the ligaments are gone in the right hand and going in the left. Recently the OT gave me some exercises to help my muscles since using the brace has made them weak. This week the knuckles have disappeared because of swelling and typing makes it worse, I probably made it worse by too much exercising of them too.. I am afraid of loosing the use of my fingers altogether and not being able to create again. I'm giving them a break this week because they hurt just too much and am hoping and praying that by next week some of the swelling will have gone down.
Lupus has effected not only my joints and the connected tissues but my intestines, my eyes and and mouth with Sjogrens Syndrone (related to Lupus) Then there is the damage that all the medications I'm on is doing to my liver, kidneys and heart (now have high blood pressure) damage to the retina in my eye and Osteoporosis. I'm on the same medications that was used It's sad that this disease does not get the attention and funding that some of the other diseases get.
It's hard for people to understand because to look at me you wouldn't know all this is going on, and on the real bad days I stay in, sometimes it's a long period. Even so..I'm still trying to create. I'm looking for and trying different ways and things to assist me in creating. Just last week I signed up for Jude Hill's Spirit Cloth quilting class! I know..I'm a glutton for punishment but I'll try it.
I think the hardest part is not knowing how bad t his will get. Will I become a body with dangling appendages?
I'm writing this to bring attention to it but also to explain why I sometimes disappear for long periods and hope people don't give up on my blog..or my art. Any art I do I will price according because I do very little now and some pieces I won't sell, but will sell prints of it. I know God has a plan for me and if it isn't with my fingers then something else..I just have to remember that.
