Her name is Hope and she is a survivor. Her lover didn’t but their love survives inside her. The sadness and tear is the remembrance of that love.
On the first anniversary of the attack on 9-11-01 I was looking through the newspapers and magazines I had saved and found what I thought at first was a black and white photo of people walking down the street coming from ground zero. I was wrong, it was actually a color photo but the people were all covered in ash. They were all shades of gray, what an effect it had on me. It brought back all those feelings I felt that day. That’s when I decided to make this art doll.
Hope represents the spirit of survival and moving on with life. In her hand is a copy of a Sept 12th 2001 newspaper. On one side of her head is a large hole with cob webs of memories. Her stiffened dress represents her strength that carried her through, and the tear is because it still hurts. Her love was lost as the buildings
crumbled but she is moving on with life with a renewed strength and hope.
The Falling Man
This is the story that most of the media didn't want to talk about. I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch and listen to the story but I'm glad I did. The story needed to be told. If you want to hear it I want to warn you because it is upsetting.

NEVER FORGET

There is so much meaning around your doll - I love that about her. I hope those who lost loved ones in 911 find some peace.
