A Christmas/Birthday present for a close friend. It took me approximately 4 months to finish mainly because of my hands and damn perfectionism. It really looked good but I forgot to ad the little stain glass ornament so I had to rip the whole wall off and ended up destroying part of the wall. The next picture is it in progress and with the picture from a magazine I was using as reference.

I've been busy trying to get a birthday/Christmas gift finished so my mail has been unopened. As I sat there this morning drinking my tea I noticed that my Art Doll Quarterly wasn't my subscription but a complimentary a copy congratulating me on being published again! What a nice surprise! They put my Frida Kahlo in the Show and Tell section. These pictures here show the inside of her and this is my description of her:
Starting with her head, the faceless baby represents the child she always wanted but couldn't have because of a near fatal accident she had un 1925. The word "broken is on her back of the book box represent her injuries. Inside the body (book) is an image of her husband Diego Rivera. The shared a strong belief in communism and pride in Mexican national identity. Sadly he betrayed her with her own sister and he was a huge part of her emotional pain wwhich was reflected in her art.
The dress and beads are vintage 60's and the lace and text are 1800's.
