"The Inventor"

I just finished an assemblage I had been working on this week.

I had found a bunch of these great little old wooden 6" x 8 /3/4" sturdy crates!. My imagination went wild. I have so many ideas! Praise God! I keep thanking Him because any gifts I have are from Him and is Him.

So this is the first one in the box series, "The Inventor". Even though we maybe a little old and rusty, a little help from friends bring renewed energy. I like the little guy! lol!

I hope you like it!

Airy Fairy Lillian! New piece on eBay!

Airy_lg
New piece on eBay. I love this image! I wish you could see and feel it because it has a nice texture and dimension that you can't get with a photo. If you've purchased from me before, you know what I mean.

Today I went to my monthly doll meeting. Lots of fun and of course it always makes me want another doll! lol!

"I've Fallen and Can't Get Up!"

I can't believe I fell again! My poor husband is going to have a heart attack (God forbid!) from me!
I got up to go to the bathroom and as I left (in the dark) I turned to jiggle the toilet because it sticks sometimes and my toe got stuck somehow in the edge of my pj pant leg. Down I went a BIG THUMP! Paul and Crystal leaped up and came scrambling. Nothing broken this time just a huge scrape down my arm and another bruise on the same left foot that I recently broke and I twisted my already deformed back. Oh my gosh..PAIN! Of course Paul gets angry with me for not putting on the light. Do you put the light on in the middle of the night? I never do. The bathroom is only around the corner from my bedroom. Even if it was light I still would have caught my toe!

Today I had to go for a CAT scan on my kidney because of microscopic blood. I pray it's nothing serious. Might be just from my Lupus.

Ok..back to work..I have 3 swaps to finish then that's it for swaps for awhile! I'd love to do a round robin though. One like the Journal exchange in True Colors. I'm in a little group..maybe with them someday.

"Love Squared"

Between my stupid health issues and this damn computer (I have had 4 freeze ups and 4 restarts just trying to finish this post!!
Anyway... I've neglected writing about out Pink Artist Community Art Doll Project. The amazing and talented Monica Magness
Has revealed the Pink Artist Doll aka "Love Squared" in all it's glory! Wow! What a creation! Monica is so talented and so are the 180 artists that created all the squares on the doll! She is now at Art Doll Quarterly and then she will be either auctioned off or raffled. Take a better and closer look at the doll: The Pink Artist Doll and be sure to check the link on the left to see ALL the squares up close. What a great project and I'm so honored just to be small part of it. Check back and I'll let you know when it will be in Art Doll Quarterly and when the raffle is.

New Art..renewed energy!

Born_of_the_spirit 1_temptation_7
New on my ebay!

I'm sorry I haven't kept my blog up. Everyday I think to myself..?Oh..I have to write about this"...or another day..write about that.,,but the truth is I'm just burying myself in my art. I'm working on trying to get enough art to do a one person show. It will be my first one and it will be at my church. I figured that would be a good place to start.

I don't even know what to charge for my assemblages. I know I worked hard and long on them.
Right now I am working on 3 things at once going back and forth. I'll show some things here on my blog.

Well, I have to get up and put my plate in the sink. I'm come to the point where I eat my supper at teh computer answering mail and lunch at my desk as I work. Before I go I have a question......should I have anything for sale or just do a show? I know a man who does water colors and beautiful calligraphy but he has had just a showing, mmmm....maybe he sold prints.

New on eBay!

Jesus_loves

Good morning'!

I have 3 new pieces up on my ebayand another going up in the next couple of days. Last week and this Sunday I posted them but they didn't show up on eBay for hrs! So I didn't get to advertise them on my Sunday only advertising forums. So if you don't see these please check back.

I made a few more boo boos... I forgot to tell people who in the past have collected my art! That was a major mistake! I have to get my priorities in gear. I'm happy with the sales and especially who won them but when I spoke with a friend who didn't get a chance to bid, I felt bad as it was my fault. Well..it's a new week and all things are new. Thank God!

I hope you like the new ones.

Alyson B Stanfield's Art Biz Blog

I've been subscribing to Alyson B Stanfield's Art Biz Blog Newsletter for a couple of years now (could be longer) She sends out weekly Art Marketing Articles which have been most helpful. I may not be the successful person I wanted to be but God will..I will someday!

She highlights so many artist blogs and is now on her book tour. Her podcasts are my favorite! I have to say I even love the way she speaks! I find her voice soothing. I would advise all artists to subscribe to her blog. I look forward to every newsletter!

I'd Rather Be in the Studio!
The 6 Principles of No-Excuse Self-Promotion

1. You are in charge. You have control over words, prices, artwork, and your image. People will take as much power from you as you give them. Guard your power carefully. Accept 100% responsibility for your actions and make no excuses.

2. Connections are critical to your success. Ignore meeting new people and maintaining relationships at your peril.

3. Life isn’t fair. The artworld isn’t fair. No one owes you anything. Building a successful career and reputation is hard work. There are no shortcuts, no easy ways out.

4. If you ignore the latest technology, you’ll quickly fall behind.

5. Your artwork doesn’t speak for itself. The right language can help you sell your art. Sure, some art sells by itself, but have you ever heard of marketing anything without words?

6. No one can promote your work better than you. No one believes in it more than you do. No one wants you to succeed more than you do. The motivation and ambition must start within you. Unless you are working with a coach or business mentor, no one is going to ask you to set goals. No one is going to tell you that you have to make a certain amount of money or achieve a certain level of success in order to be satisfied. You absolutely have to do this for yourself.

I'd Rather Be in the Studio!

I’d Rather Be in the Studio! The Artist’s No-Excuse Guide to Self-Promotion is for artists of all kinds. Painters, sculptors, ceramist, jewelers, photographers, and others will benefit from the easy-to-follow self-promotion practices in this book.

Author and art-marketing consultant Alyson B. Stanfield, of ArtBizCoach.com, focuses on sharing the artwork directly with potential buyers through electronic and traditional communication outlets—in a manner that is comfortable, not artificial. Artists match Internet marketing strategies with sincere personal skills to take charge of their art careers.

Surprise Gift!

P1010001_copy P1010002_copy_2

As I sit here with my poor swollen foot propped up on pillows and ice, the mail brought me a wonderful surprise! A gift from my fiend in Hawaii! It is a tiny miniature folding rocker! It's half scale which is half the scale of the regular miniatures. Her work is impeccable! Now I want to work on my doll house again!

BROKEN .....Again!

I can't believe I broke the same foot again! Well, actually it's only fractured but never the less painful!
I went outside to take some pictures for my art since I try to take most of the pictures myself. Yup, that's me in all my pieces. Anyway...I turned around and the sun hit me in the eye and I didn't see the cat's little fencing (the same stuff I make my pieces out of.)...Flip! Bam! Bang! The camera went sailing in the air! I watched it as if in slow motion as I landed with my leg in this most awkward position..OUCH! I cried..I prayed..Please God..don't let my camera be broken...again!..oh ya..please don't let my foot be broken either!

Well...Praise Jesus..the camera was ok. A little dented and the batteries fell out and a ring popped off..but it still works!...but my fanny has a big bump and my foot swelled waaay big. Got into see my orthopedic and it wasn't broken but sure was fractured and sprained, so Im just in a soft cast this time. And couch-bound! Anyone who knows me knows how hard it is for me to stay still. Guess it's the perfect time to crochet the lap blenkets for the elderly.

~ Poor little caught Fairy ~

I took a walk in the woods when I was on retreat and saw a flicker of light...I followed it..there caught in a spider web was this tiny little fairy dressed in pink gossamer and lace. I spoke to her and in a wee voice she said .."help me please!" I untangled her and took her home. She asked to always be close so I made her a wee cage with a mica window and a tinkle bell on the bottom and she stays close as a necklace or hanging over my bench.

Back after a well needed break!

Song_copy
This is the chapel and the sun shown through the cross hold and at night the moon shines through it..quite lovely.

Today is the first day I have physical energy since I went away Friday. I went to the Women's Retreat held at the Salvation Army Conference Center. It was a wonderful time! God's spirit filled the place. I've never heard one hundred women sing their hearts out like that. The speaker was Maggie Rowe and she was inspiring. I came home renewed and full of hope and love, inspiration and determination!

I only had about 2 hours sleep and ate all the wrong things that made me sick and exhausted but it was well worth going to it.

A New Day...Lets Create!

Workspace_2 Workspace1

This is what my workspace looks like 95% of the time. The other 5% it might be clean. Heck! All you need is a little 10" spot to work in..sometimes smaller! You can click on the picture to see even closer at my mess! Actually..this is a tad cleaner since I picked up a little last night.

I try to be neat, start cleaning at night so my space is semi clean for the next day but it takes 2 hours just finding places for all the tiny stuff that accumulates and _ forbid I throw anything out that might come in handy in the future! How do you all work? Is it possible everyone's workspace looks like this or am I in the minority? My friends (not artists) are always amazed at what my desk or even my work room looks like.
Am I a pig or just living as an eccentric artist? After listening to a radio show..I found out I'M A HOARDER!!! Eeeek! LOL!

Words Taken or Said Wrong

Saddened

At least here on our own blogs we can say what we want. Here in the land of the internet, words can be taken wrong or said wrong to the point where the intent was missed.

Is there a way to be humorous without offending? I thought thats what "smilies" were for. Is there a way to be honest without sounding rude? I guess I haven't mastered that. Has anyone? Anyway, my point is in a group forum you have to be verrrrry careful of how you write. Something said innocently can be taken down a road you would never had figured. All depends on what's in the other person's mind.

So goes...I keep to myself. The place I'll write is here and if someone doesn't like what I write..then I'm sorry...don't visit. I guess I'm more angry than hurt, no..maybe more hurt?. I've been told to speak up for myself (I hate confrontation) and when I do..I get scolded. Go figure. I'd do anything for anyone that asks (or don't even ask)...people that know me...know that.
So with that said, this is where I'll say what's on my heart and show my newest art. Jesus knows my true heart and that is what's important.

The Great Commission of Christ ~ Happy Easter

"Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'" (Luke 24:45-48).

One of those days!

You ever have one of those days when it seems everything goes wrong? If you've read my bio you know I have RH and Lupus and Sjogrens (dry eye and mouth). Well, I wear these silver medical rings for my bent fingers which help. The tendons in my fingers are starting to give so the fingers go sideways and lock up instead of what I want them to do. The rings have been a Godsend, they help a lot. You can't imagine how many I've lost due to my fingers shrinking and they fall off and at $97 a pop it gets expensive replacing them all the time. Anyway, last night I didn't even realize I lost one and I stepped on it. Uggh..it is very hard to straighten this type of ring and make it the two oval circled that it is. This is a picture of one of my new ones: A_ring

I finally got it wearable. This morning...I did the same damn thing!

Then in the mail I just received a letter from my doctor saying the tests I had showed blood and I needed to see a specialist. I know God is in control (even though I think I am!) but it is still unnerving and if it is the test I'm thinking of, is a long needle going in for a biopsy on my kidney. I'm a wreck thinking about that one! I feel like I'm at the beginning of a dark forest that I have to go into.

I saw the pain specialist this week and my back is so bad that they wanted to put me on Methadone but I declined. If my Rheumy says a M patch is the best way, I'll have to think about it. I plan my whole day around the two times I can take my pain killers and I'd like my life back!!!

Ok.. I just needed to vent. All in all I'm grateful for my family and friends (here and on the internet) and that I can still make some kind of art.
